"Emma Big Girl Crib!"

Emma graduates to the toddler bed after she was recently discovered
laying on top of the crib, with one leg and arm dangling on each side. She is proud of herself!

Thanks to Grandma Bonnie for staying with us this week while daycare is closed to help us manage the household/circus/zoo.

3-week old Matthew is still cozy, cuddly, and sleepy, but is also more responsive when awake. He has successfully returned to his birth weight and grew to 21 inches long at his 2-week pediatrician check-up.

Success!!

On the eve of his 3 week birthday, we are so excited to report that Matthew slept through the entire night last night!! 8 full hours of sleep for all of us (except Mom who couldn't sleep for the last 2 hours because she was convinced something was wrong!). Woo hoo!! I'm sure it's not a pattern, but we were grateful for the reprieve!

Marcelo's 4th Birthday Party at Chuck E. Cheese's

Baby Matthew is chillin'

Emma is intent on staring at Chuck E. Cheese, rather than meeting him.

Vermont sibs (Uncle Pete & Aunt Amy) visit!

Hitting the road to Vermont in their cool Toyota Yaris ("Doris").

"Amy do it." (Emma allows Amy to put her hair in a pony tail.)

Emma loves having Uncle Pete all to her own to play with; "Pete, Look!"

Pete and Amy look like naturals with a baby.

Big Sister Emma cares for "my baby!"

Emma is all packed and ready to go with her baby to day care.

" My baby" now sometimes sits in Emma's highchair.

Mommy's face says it all as Emma now wants to "play baby" in "baby brother's" things.

We love our "new" van!

We were recently fortunate enough to acquire this used Chevy Uplander! We put the Katterjohns on the job of finding us a good vehicle. Between Carl's mechanical expertise and Bonnie's safety expertise, it should be a good fit! We all love riding in "the new ban" (as Emma refers to it).

We love and appreciate Daycare!!!

Carol and Kendra pose with Emma. As Emma gets further into her "twos," we rely on them even more for advice and venting!

Life continues at home...

Matthew is mostly quiet, sleepy, and cuddly. This is a nice addition to our bustling home.

Making sure Emma still has quality fun time with parents.

" My green truck."

Daddy's not trying to hide out, is he???
"Honey you have the kids, I'll be 'right back'."

Grandpa Carl & Nathan designed and built this unit for additional storage in our "one-butt" kitchen.

Nathan turns 31 (July 24th)

Nathan's birthday presents: a shirt that reads "This is what the world's greatest Daddy looks like" and...a son!

Uncle Todd, Aunt Lisa, and Alexus visit Matthew and celebrate Nathan's birthday. Emma loves Todd's truck.

Returning Home (July 22nd)

"My pony!" Emma has recently become very interested in pony tails. 3 generations of women enjoy the new baby boy.

Snuggle-snuggle!

Nicholas sporting his "scary" face.

Freddy Kahle

Grandpa Carl brings Emma out to the car to greet us. He scored big points with her by finding the missing "S" from her alphabet puzzle!

Barnes & Mayos Visit and play with Emma at Home

Trying to show off the innovative "EmMatthew" t-shirts Uncle Mike made for us identifying who is "the big sister" and who is "the little brother."

Emma & Nathan

The Mayos made a fabulous homemade meal for us, and the Barnes' brought Kristin's favorite Dairy Queen. Emma & Marcelo break in the new play area.

Matthew's Godparents - Matt & Ana Barnes

Thank you to visitors and callers!

Although we were sad that Nathan’s siblings could not be with is in person, we loved talking with them by phone in the days after Matthew’s birth. Uncle Paul called from New York on his lunch break from building a crepe cafĂ©, we commiserated with Aunt Kristin and Uncle Matt in Montana about parenthood, and enjoyed talking with Uncle Pete & Aunt Amy in Vermont about their upcoming trip to Bear Lake.

Emma & Matthew meet at the Hospital

Matthew had a gift for Emma upon his arrival. Maybe that's why he wouldn't fit down the birth canal!?!?

Emma also had a birthday present for Matthew. She picked out this puppy for him!
